Recently, Microsoft made changes in Dynamics NAV. One of which is that sales lines, purchase lines and journal lines no longer refresh when a user re-selects the No. value.
When a user creates a purchase order, they select an item, change the description, and enter the quantity and unit amount.
Up to Dynamics NAV 2016 CU4, if the item was reselected the purchase order would revalidate the item with the item card. If the item card was updated with new information, the purchase order would reflect that change.
Starting with Dynamics NAV 2016 CU5, Microsoft changed the process of refreshing lines. Microsoft’s design is not to override previous written values because the item is still the same. This improves performance while respecting the changes made by the user.
If a user needs to revalidate the line, one approach suggested by Microsoft is to add a space after the No. value. To revalidate the line, select the item 1000 and add a space after the zero, then hit tab or enter. The space after the number will trigger the validation.
As you can see above, after validation the description changed to reflect the description on the item card. As well, the direct unit cost is zero.
Please note that this only affects Dynamics NAV 2016 CU5 versions and above.
